the vehicle has been scrapped.
The End-of-Life Vehicles Directive (ELV) which passed into European law in
October 2000 and came into effect on 3 November 2003 states that all vehicles
are de-polluted. All scrap vehicles by law must be taken to a ATF also know as
an Authorised Treatment Facility for de-pollution.
Once we arrive at the ATF the vehicle will be unloaded and taken to a
de-pollution bay.
The engine oil will be drained and put into special tanks the gear box oil &
axle oils removed, air bags deployed and made safe, all harmful liquids are
drained and any other hazardous waste removed.
Once the vehicle has been made safe for recycling the shell of the vehicle will
be moved to the bailer where the shell will be crushed and the metal recycled.
